Transcription: This bronze statue of General Joseph Wheeler is a gift from the state of Alabama. Wheeler was a lawyer who served in the Confederate Army, attaining the rank of Senior Cavalry Officer. General Wheeler also served as a representative in Congress for 18 years. He lived from 1836 to 1906.
